so, santa cruz is about 1.5 hours south of san francisco. why wouldn't we go there? right? darcy and i had zero plans when we started our little adventure. i wanted to drive across the golden gate bridge, she wanted to see some redwoods, so off we went.
on the way up highway 1, we found a lighthouse with a beautiful view.
this is probably my favorite picture of the whole group. so good.
we decided to take a picture similar to this at every place we stopped.

my first view of the bridge.
here, i'm counting the 27,572 wires in this cross section of a cable. i'm positive i didn't get past ten or so.
as we drove across the bridge, i took what seemed like a thousand pictures with the camera out the window, to keep you all interested, i'll tell you some facts about the bridge.
the golden gate bridge is a suspension bridge. it took 4 yeas to build and came in 1.5 million under budget. here's me jumping in celebration. (o:
when it was constructed it was the longest single span bridge in the world. yayyyy!

wiki told me there are 80,000 miles of cables spun together to form the main cable.
during a construction, a net was strung under the workers to prevent deaths. only 11 people died during construction. ten of those were because a net failed when something fell on it.
19 people's lives were saved by these nets- this club was called the 'halfway to hell' club.
unfortunatly, since it's construction it has become the most popular place to commit suicide in the world. about one every 2 weeks.
when jumping, you hit the water at 76 miles per hour.... the water is determined to feel like concrete.
the color of the bridge is 'international orange'
that's all the facts i remember from TED 316, my structures class in college.
next, we went to muir woods. home of some pretty nice redwoods.

Whoa, this is so good. You were right that this was better than the last. I will let you go wherever you'd like as long as you keep getting better at photography. Because--you know--it is up to me where you go. I love you and I'm glad you're having a fantastic time.
My faves are photo #2, the one of you jumping (even though I can see London and France) because you are having so much fun. Love that you got that GG bridge with a great looking sky. Great use of sun in Muir woods. Sweet!

I loveee the light house. I like how it looks old and worn. The picture of you staring into the ocean makes me of Kate Winslet standing on the front of the ship.
As for photo #2, I agree you always look in your element when you are jumping. You also spelled "year" wrong. You are wearing London and France that look to match the international orange of the bridge. The group behind you also looks to be perplexed with your awesome jumping skills.
When you go to see redwood's it is a must to hug them. I see awesome photo's of tree's being show love. I like it :)
All and all looks like you are having a great time .. keep it up
